Tropical Isopods - Trichorhina tormentosa

Tropical Isopods (Trichorhina tormentosa) are small prehistoric insects, up to 5mm long, that live in damp substrates and act as decomposers, making them a great choice for keeping the soil in tropical terrariums healthy. They can be used in combination with a Colony of Spring tails to keep tropical terrariums moist, clean and healthy.

As well as keeping the terrarium soil healthy, they are also a popular food for small species of amphibians, such as Dendrobatids.

Conservation and use

Your Tropical Isopods can be kept in the packaging in which they are sent. All you need to do is keep the substrate moist inside the packaging and regularly provide food such as Arcadia's Custodian Fuel. They should be kept at a temperature between 20ºC and 25ºC. If you can't see the isopods immediately, don't worry, they tend to hide in the middle of the substrate. To colonize a terrarium, simply mix the entire contents of the box with the terrarium substrate.
